The Sidekick is a compact, mobile motorised HF Antenna. Smaller than the HS-1800PRO it is built to the same high standard and uses similar components. The lower high current section is a little under 2in (51mm) diameter and houses the coil assembly. No Beryllium finger stocks are used, as is the case for all High Sierra Antennas. The Blackhawk motor arrangement is a custom-built motor very much more efficient than competitors screwdriver motors, and almost silent in use.
Tuning the antenna is done by raising or lowering the top section with its 0.9m whip via the switch on the control box, and getting a minimum SWR. These readings can be obtained from the metering on most modern mobile or portable rigs, or via an external SWR/Power meter.
Due to its smaller size it can be mounted onto the 3/8th Triple Mag Mount without any problem. A spare 3/8th stud will have to be obtained though to mate the antenna to the Mag Mount.
