Famous for many years, this antenna is widely used. It gives a small amount of gain on the higher bands but for optimum performance with solid state rigs you must use an ATU. Most transceiver internal ATUs will match these antennas but for optimum performance we recommend an external tuner such as those from MFJ.

The full size G5RV can be used on 160m by strapping the feeder ends together and feeding with a single wire from the ATU.

The MA5V is Cushcraft’s reduced-space multiband HF vertical antenna. It provides 5-band coverage on 20m through to 10m. Power rating is an excellent 250W (PEP). VSWR at resonance is 1.2 with usable bandwidths of 200, 100, 450, 100 and 500kHz. The antenna does not require radials and is the perfect choice for patios, backyards and small gardens. It can be upgraded to the same spec as the MA-6V with the addition of the MA5V6M add-on kit.
