The FT-8800R in the same style as the FT-8900 Quad band mobile, operates as two radios in one, with either 144MHz or 430MHz as the main TX/RX band with simultaneous monitoring of the other band. Separate volume and squelch controls are provided for each band (VHF/UHF). As well as the two main amateur VHF and UHF bands the FT-8800 provides wideband receiver coverage from 108 to 520MHz and 700 to 999MHz. More than enough to monitor the frequencies.
