Acom 2100 1.8-54 MHz 1500 W continuous carrier

The TRI is a powerful tuning aid that quickly and precisely matches antenna impedance to the optimum tube load impedance. It works with the automatically controlled input attenuation and typically takes 5-10 seconds. With this feature, there is no need for heavy outboard antenna tuners for antenna VSWR up to about 3:1. This allows for easy and quick antenna changes and the use of antennas over a more comprehensive frequency range.

The amplifier is designed to be user-friendly and self-maintained. It can safely withstand up to 400 W reflected power and handle drive spikes and RF "tails" after a PTT or KEY release. It can also tolerate operator inadvertent tuning errors. Additionally, the amplifier can function with "soft" AC mains and deliver more than half power at only 85% of the nominal mains voltage. It can withstand voltage drops up to 10 milliseconds and tolerates 15% mains voltage spikes, making it reliable for Field Day, DXpeditions, and portable operating events with emergency power.

The amplifier features an OLED display with detailed text on the dot matrix, including high brightness and contrast. The display always shows peak forward power. LED indicators are also provided for various modes and conditions. It has three selectable antenna outputs, and data regarding the amplifier's internal status is stored in a nonvolatile memory for diagnostics.

The input bypassing and vacuum antenna relays are designed to be virtually silent, even in the CW QSK mode. The amplifier has excellent broadband input matching, ensuring a good load to the transceiver across the entire spectrum of 1.8-54 MHz. It uses a single 4CX1000A tube with ceramic and metal radial beam tetrode, designed for class AB1 RF linear amplifier operation. The tube is protected by permanently monitoring and protecting plate and grid voltages, currents, reflected power, and exhaust air temperature.

The amplifier has a frequency coverage of 1.8-54 MHz and can deliver 1500 W continuous carrier power with no mode limit. It has excellent intermodulation distortion performance, better than 32 dB below-rated output. The hum and noise level is better than 40 dB below-rated output. The harmonic output suppression is better than 50 dB below rated output for 1.8-29.7 MHz and better than 66 dB below rated output for 50-54 MHz.

The input and output impedances are nominal 50 Ohm unbalanced with UHF (SO239) type connectors. The input circuit has a broadband VSWR of less than 1.3:1 from 1.8-54 MHz with no tunings or switching required. The bypass path has a VSWR of less than 1.1:1 from 1.8-54 MHz. The output matching capability is better than VSWR 3:1 or more and is excellent at reduced output levels. The RF gain is typically 13.5 dB with a frequency response of less than 1 dB for 50-85W drive power.

The amplifier operates on a primary power of 85-132 V and 170-264 V, with various nominal taps and tolerances. It consumes 3500 VA at rated output. It complies with CE safety, EMC requirements, and FCC regulations. The size of the amplifier is 445x375x205 mm (17.52x14.76x8.07 inches), and it weighs 29.3 kg (64.6 lbs). It can operate in temperatures ranging from 0 to +50 degrees Celsius and humidity up to 95% at +35 degrees Celsius. It can be used at 3000 m (10000 ft) above sea level without output deterioration.
