The IC-M423G is an upgraded version of the IC-M423 fixed-mount VHF/DSC radio. It features an integrated GPS Receiver for DSC calls, a new white backlight LCD for improved visibility, and a sleek HM-205B Speaker Microphone with a 45mm diameter speaker. The optional HM-195G COMMAND MIC boasts a white backlight LCD and laser-cut keypad.

The built-in GPS receiver displays DSC calls' current position and time with selectable GPS data sources. The white backlight LCD and laser-cut keypad complement modern boat designs. The HM-205B/SW Speaker-microphone includes channel controls and a large speaker for clear communication.

Retained features from the IC-M423 include active noise cancelling, an intuitive user interface, 10W loud audio with PA and foghorn functions, built-in Class D DSC, AIS target call capability, Marine Commander compatibility, IPX7 submersible protection, and additional features like NMEA 0183 connectivity and AquaQuake™ draining function.
