The Z-817 is the ultimate autotuner for QRP radios like the Yaesu FT-817(D). It connects to the CAT port on the back of the FT-817 radio with the provided cable. Tuning is simplified to a single button push on the tuner. The Z-817 handles the rest by switching to PKT mode, transmitting a carrier, tuning the tuner, and then restoring the radio to its previous state. With 2000 memories covering 160 through 6 meters, the Z-817 is versatile and can also be used as a general-purpose antenna tuner with other QRP radios.

Operating at RF power levels from 0.1 to 20 watts in SSB, CW, and digital modes, the Z-817 features latching relays for ultra-low power consumption. It is powered by four AA internal Alkaline batteries (not included) and requires a coax jumper cable for quick setup. The tuner's dimensions are 5.1” L, 4.7” W, and 1.7” H, and it weighs 9.3 ounces without batteries. Additionally, the Z-817 offers a wide tuning range from 6 to 600 ohms and covers frequencies from 1.8 to 54 MHz (continuous coverage for MARS) with SO-239 in and out connections for various antenna types. The built-in CAT port interface with a CAT thru port for computer connection operates at 38400 baud and supports 2000 memories when used with the FT-817 interface (200 memories for other radios).
