This user-friendly radio sets up quickly and does not require any complicated microprocessor programming. Its superhet receiver has great sensitivity, bringing in even the weakest signals at full volume. The IF filter includes a super-quiet FET post-amp stage, making it the best CW receiver available.

The MFJ-9015 also offers excellent selectivity, thanks to its tight CW bandwidth crystal ladder filter that fights unwanted QRM and noise. Its VFO is smooth and stable, with a wide-spaced reduction drive VFO capacitor that glides slowly across the easy-to-read dial.

Other notable features include a True RIT control with a center-detent, making it easy to listen or call off-frequency, and a smooth AGC that tracks only the signals you want to hear. The built-in speaker, driven by 100 mW of audio, delivers great volume.

The transmitter of the MFJ-9015 is rugged and reliable, with a Motorola power amplifier transistor that delivers full QRP output and can tolerate opens and accidental shorts without damage. It also features a sinewave sidetone at 700 Hz, making sending as enjoyable as receiving.

The transceiver offers semi-QSK functionality, allowing you to set adjustable hold transmit/receive switching to suit your normal sending speed or enable full QSK during contests. It is also easy to power, consuming only 50 mA average on receive and 1.2 amp peak on transmit, making it ideal for battery operation in remote locations.
