The Yaesu RF µTUNING KIT delivers ultra‑sharp RF selectivity for the transceiver’s front end, using a high‑Q, narrow‑band design that dramatically improves performance on the low HF bands. Built around Yaesu’s advanced permeability‑tuning architecture, this system represents the most refined µ‑Tune implementation ever developed for an amateur transceiver.

Three optional µ‑Tune units are available, each covering a specific HF range:

• µTuning Kit A (MTU‑160) — 1.8 MHz

• µTuning Kit B (MTU‑80/40) — 3.5 & 7 MHz

• µTuning Kit C (MTU‑30/20) — 10.1 & 14 MHz

When installed, the µ‑Tune module automatically tracks your operating frequency, providing exceptional protection against IMD and blocking. Its narrow bandwidth is especially effective at lower frequencies, where strong NVIS‑propagated signals often crowd the spectrum.

The µ‑Tune system offers a significantly higher Q and superior shape factor compared to VRF, and can also be manually adjusted to suppress interference as close as 10 kHz away. For operators concerned about insertion loss or noise figure, the transceiver menu allows seamless switching back to the VRF circuit when required.
