Unlike those other chargers claiming that it can charge 9V batteries in the car, the MH-C490F has the patented automatic step-up device that is capable of charging 9.6V batteries at its full capability. 9.6V NiMH batteries need a minimum of 15V input to charge the batteries to its full potential. This charger is the one true 9V charger that is worthy to be called car capable.
