Arnold Skip Wilkins OBE radar memoirs

The Birth of British Radar | Arnold “Skip” Wilkins OBE | History of Radar

The Birth of British Radar tells the story of Arnold Skip Wilkins OBE and his pioneering work in early British radar development.

Skip describes his involvement from 1935, including the Daventry experiment and the creation of prototype RDF equipment. His work helped form the research group at Bawdsey Manor, where radar evolved into a vital defence system during the Second World War.

This expanded second edition adds interviews, historical notes, photos and extra material that places each chapter in context. It provides a detailed account of the engineering and political challenges behind the development of radar.

The Birth of British Radar is a fascinating record of one of the most important periods in British electronics history.
