The Heil BM-17-iC is a lightweight, dual-sided headset designed for portable and everyday amateur radio use with Icom transceivers, offering clear transmit audio and enhanced receive performance.

This version uses the Heil iC electret microphone element, designed to utilise bias power available in Icom radios. This eliminates low-gain issues that can occur when using dynamic microphones with certain Icom models.

The BM-17 features a swivel-mounted boom arm, allowing the microphone to be positioned on either the left or right side for flexible operation.

Its dual-sided design provides improved audio isolation and enhanced listening clarity, making it ideal for noisy environments, contesting and extended operating sessions.

Microphone Element – iC Electret

  • Designed specifically for Icom radios
  • Requires +5V DC bias power
  • Frequency response: 35 Hz – 12 kHz
  • Sensitivity: -57 dB at 1 kHz
  • Optimised for low-gain microphone inputs

Important Compatibility Note

  • This version uses an electret microphone element
  • Designed specifically for Icom radios with bias voltage support
  • Must be used with a compatible Heil adapter cable

Required Adapter

Requires one of the following Heil adapter cables:

  • AD-1-iC
  • AD-1-iCM

These adapters allow bias voltage to pass through for correct microphone operation.
