The Heil Sound Pro Set Media Pro has been purpose-built for use with computers in software-defined radio (SDR) applications, delivering beautiful, high-quality audio with actual plug-and-play functionality.

Based on Heil Sound’s legendary Pro Set headset, the Media Pro version incorporates a high-output electret microphone element specifically designed to meet the electrical requirements of computer sound card inputs. This ensures perfect impedance matching, optimal gain, and natural, articulate transmit audio — no additional interfaces, adapters, or external power required.

The earphones are acoustically tuned and feature Heil Sound’s exclusive phase-reversal switch, which creates a subtle spatial widening effect, making weak or crowded signals easier to copy. Each earpiece uses a 200-ohm driver with a gentle -3 dB roll-off at 8 kHz, helping to reduce receiver hiss and fatigue during extended operating sessions.

For connection, the Pro Set Media Pro uses two industry-standard 1/8″ (3.5 mm) male plugs:

  • Red plug → connects to your computer’s microphone input

  • Black plug → connects to the headphone or speaker output

The headset also includes a microphone windscreen, which does not affect frequency response but is highly effective at reducing breath blasts. For comfort and hygiene, removable, washable cotton ear pad covers are supplied, along with easily replaceable vinyl pads.

⚠️ Note: The Heil Pro Set Media Pro is not compatible with amateur radio transceivers. It is designed exclusively for computer-based SDR operation and digital radio software.
