Technical Details on Operation

The MV7 is developed from the proven MV6 platform and shares much of its mechanical structure. Its key advancement is the redesigned central radiating element, now a true dual‑band system for 40m and 20m. This is achieved by adding a precision‑wound loading coil topped with a capacitive hat. The combination isolates the lower portion of the 20m band while simultaneously providing the correct inductive loading required for efficient 40m operation.

Above this dual‑band section, the remaining radiator—approximately 2.2 metres in length—is formed from two lightweight telescopic aluminium tubes. These sections are engineered for low wind resistance, easy adjustment, and precise calibration across the entire 40m band.

A major innovation introduced in the MV7 is its redesigned ground‑plane system. Instead of the MV6 layout, the MV7 employs Grazioli’s DBFC (Dual Band Folded Counterpoise)system, a patent‑pending design that creates a compact and highly efficient dual‑band counterweight.

The DBFC system uses a 1mm AISI316 stainless‑steel 19‑strand cable, anchored to the tip of one of the four radials. The dramatic difference in diameter between the 10mm aluminium radial and the 1mm cable creates a high‑impedance junction. This allows only the 40m current to flow into the cable, while higher bands such as 20m and above continue to operate normally on the aluminium radial structure.

The combined length of the stainless‑steel cable and its aluminium radial forms an electrically correct ¼‑wave counterpoise for 40m. This counterweight is then folded back toward the adjacent radials, reducing the antenna's physical footprint and eliminating the need for long wire radials or lossy-loadedradial systems.
